ܘܥܙܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܙܘܪ ܫܪܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܪܘܚܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ

The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded.

ܘܢܦܩ ܩܕܡ ܐܣܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܝܢܝ ܐܣܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܗܘ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܢ ܬܒܥܘܢܝܗܝ ܢܫܬܟܚ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܐܢ ܬܫܒܩܘܢܗ ܢܫܒܘܩܟܘܢ

He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܣܓ̈ܝܐܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܠܐ ܦܠܚܘ ܠܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܒܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܩܒܠܘ ܡܢ ܟܗܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܢܡܘ̈ܣܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܫܬܠܡܘ ܠܐܝܕܐ ܕܒܥܠܕ̈ܒܒܐ
ywmth' sgy'' l'ysryl dl' plkhw l'lhhwn bqwshth' wl' qblw mn khnyhwn wl' shmew nmwsyhwn w'shthlmw l'yd' dbeldbb'
Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law.

ܘܟܕ ܥܩܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܨܠܝܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܒܥܐܘܗܝ ܘܐܫܬܟܚ ܠܗܘܢ
wkd eqth lhwn tslyw qdm mry' 'lh' d'ysryl wbe'why w'shthkkh lhwn
But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

ܘܒܙ̈ܒܢܬܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܩܕܡܝ̈ܬܐ ܟܕ ܠܐܠܗܢ ܠܐ ܕܚ̇ܠܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܫܠܡ ܠܐ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܢ̇ܦܩ ܘܠܐ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܥ̇ܐܠ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܝ̣ܫܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܐܬܬ ܗܘܬ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ
wbzbnth' hlyn qdmyth' kd l'lhn l' dkhlyn hwyn l' 'yth hw' shlm l' lmn dnpq wl' lmn de'l mTl dbyshth' rbth' 'thth hwth el klhwn emwryh d're'
In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.

ܘܐܬܒܕܪܢ ܒܟܠ ܥܡ ܘܥܡ ܘܒܝܢܬ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܘܒܝܢܬ ܡܕܝ̈ܢܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܫܒܩܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܢ ܘܠܐ ܨ̇ܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܠܡܫܡܥ ܒܩܠܐ ܕܥܒ̣ܕܘ̈ܗܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ

They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.

ܘܐܦ ܗܘ ܦܪܥܢ ܐܓܪܐ ܕܥܒ̇ܕ̈ܝܢ
w'p hw pren 'gr' debdyn
But you be strong! Don’t let your hands be slack, for your work will be rewarded.”

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܐܣܐ ܦܬܓ̈ܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܥܙܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܙܘܪ ܢܒܝܐ ܐܬܥܫܢ ܘܐܥܒܪ ܨܠܡ̈ܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܕܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܘܡܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܐܚܕ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܚܕܬ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܩܕܡ ܣܪܘܓܐ

When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed Yahweh’s altar that was before Yahweh’s porch.

ܘܟܢܫ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢܝܡܝܢ ܘܡܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܐܚܕ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܓܝܘܪ̈ܐ ܕܒܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܡܢܫܐ ܘܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܣܘܓܐܐ ܟܕ ܚܙܘ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܥܡܗ

He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon; for they came to him out of Israel in abundance when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.

ܘܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܬܠܝܬܝܐ ܒܫܢܬ ܚܡܫܥܣܪܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܣܐ

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.

ܘܕܒܚܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܕܒܚ̈ܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܡܢ ܒܙܬܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܘ ܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܫܒܥܡܐܐ ܘܥ̈ܢܐ ܫܬܐ ܐܠܦܝ̈ܢ
wdbkhw lmry' dbkh' bywm' hw mn bzth' d'ythyw thwr' shbem'' wen' shth' 'lpyn
They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, of the plunder which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.

ܘܐܝܡܘ ܡܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܢܨܠܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܒܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܒܟܠܗ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܘܒܟܠܗ̇ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ
w'ymw mwmth' dntslwn qdm mry' 'lh' d'bhyhwn bklh lbhwn wbklh npshhwn
They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;

ܘܟܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܨܠܐ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܢܡܘܬ ܡܢ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܪܒܐ ܘܡܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܢܫ̈ܐ
wkl mn dl' ntsl' qdm mry' 'lh' d'ysryl nmwth mn zewr' wedm' lrb' wmn gbr' wedm' lnsh'
and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

ܘܐܝܡܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܟܦܝ̈ܦܬܐ ܘܦܫܝ̈ܛܬܐ
w'ymw lmry' bql' rm' bqrnth' kpypth' wpshyTth'
They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with cornets.

ܘܚܕܝܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܥܠ ܛܒܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܒܥܐܘܗܝ ܘܡܢ ܟܠܗ̇ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܨܠܝܘ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܘܐܫܬܟܚ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܦܨܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܠ ܒܥ̈ܠܝ ܬܚ̈ܘܡܝܗܘܢ
wkhdyw klhwn dbyth yhwd' el Tb' hn' dshmew mTl dmn klh lbhwn be'why wmn klh npshhwn tslyw qdmwhy w'shthkkh lhwn wptsy 'nwn mn kl bely thkhwmyhwn
All Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them. Then Yahweh gave them rest all around.

ܘܐܦ ܠܡܥܟܐ ܐܡܗ ܕܐܣܐ ܐܥܒܪܗ̇ ܡܢ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ̇ ܥܠ ܕܥܒܕܬ ܥܐܕܐ ܠܨܠܡ̈ܝܗ̇ ܘܦܣܩ ܐܣܐ ܠܨܠܡ̈ܝܗ̇ ܘܐܘܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܢܚܠܐ ܕܩܕܪܘܢ
w'p lmek' 'mh d's' 'ebrh mn mlkwthh el debdth e'd' ltslmyh wpsq 's' ltslmyh w'wqd 'nwn bnkhl' dqdrwn
Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; so Asa cut down her image, ground it into dust, and burned it at the brook Kidron.

ܘܡܕܒ̈ܚܐ ܠܐ ܦܪܩܘ ܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܪܡ ܠܒܗ ܕܐܣܐ ܫܠܡ ܗܘܐ ܠܕܚܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܚܝܘ̈ܗܝ
wmdbkh' l' prqw mn 'ysryl brm lbh d's' shlm hw' ldkhlthh dmry' 'lhh klhwn ywmth' dkhywhy
But the high places were not taken away out of Israel; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

ܘܐܝܬܝ ܩܘܕ̈ܫܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܩܘ̈ܕܫܘܗܝ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܟܣܦܐ ܘܕܗܒܐ ܘܡܐ̈ܢܐ
w'ythy qwdsh' d'bwhy wqwdshwhy lbythh dmry' ksp' wdhb' wm'n'
He brought the things that his father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated, silver, gold, and vessels into God’s house.

ܘܩܪܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܫܢܬ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܚܡܫ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܣܐ
wqrb' hw' bshnth thlthyn wkhmsh dmlkwthh d's'
There was no more war to the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.
